former Questies. The 'keeper is Berry College standout junior
sensation Byron Schunaman, who won three state titles while playing
for Harmon. The field player is Berry freshman Jason Tindall, who
last played for Mark Rogers' 19 Reds. The shot was taken after Berry
beat the current 18 Reds in a pre-season friendly.

December 5, 2003: The Berry College Vikings finished their
season 22-2-1, ranked #2 NAIA, and tied for third in the National
Tournament held near Kansas City. The Quest alumni all performed
admirably. Byron Schueneman had a great season which included 8
shutouts. He was named to the all region team and may qualify for
All-American. Jon Mastrangelo had an amazing season, including 15
goals and 13 assists. He was also named to the all region team. And
finally, since Berry was so hobbled with injuries by the time the
nationals came around, freshman Jason Tindal was promoted to starting mid-fielder.

Quest Alumnus
Georgia Southerns Tyler Mullen has been named the Southern
Conference Mens Soccer Player of the Week for the week of
October 27.
Mullen, a freshman from Roswell, GA, has been a steady striker for
the Eagles all year. On Saturday, the midfielder tallied two goals
and assisted on another in Georgia Southerns 5-2 win over
Wofford. His goal in the 22nd minute was the second of five
consecutive goals for the Eagles. A starter in every game, Mullen is
second on the team with 13 points. Georgia Southern is currently
fifth in the Southern Conference standings with two more conference
games to play.
Senior forward Devon Prescod is making the most of his final season
with the Irish. After struggling through a series of leg injuries
last season, Prescod is healthy and leading the Irish in scoring this
season with five goals. His scores against #11 California,West
Virginia and Georgetown proved to be the game winners, as well.
Prescod came into the 2003 season with 10 career goals after scoring
six as a sophomore in 2001. His five goals this season already
eclipses his three from a year ago. Named the BIG EAST Offensive
Player of the Week on Sept. 1, Prescod is first on the team in points
with 10 and second in shots on goal with 11.
|
Sept. 1, 2003: Former United Quest player Devon Prescod earned
the title of Big East Offensive Player Of The Week. The senior
forward provided both goals in Notre Dame's victory over #11/17
California on Saturday evening. Prescod led the University of Notre
Dame men's soccer team (1-0-1) to a come-from-behind victory over the
Bears, scoring with nine minutes left in the contest to knot the game
at 1-1. He then put in the game winner just over one minute into the
second overtime.
Prescod was the most active offensive player for the Irish all
weekend, getting off seven shots, including four shots on goal. The
Notre Dame offense as a unit was aggressive all weekend, out-shooting
their opponents 31-18, but managing just the two goals against
California and a scoreless tie vs. #20 Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday.
The weekly award is the second of Prescod's career, as the Marietta,
Ga., native earned offensive player of the week honors on Oct. 15, 2001. |

Quest Night at Clemson
|
September 6, 2001 Historic Riggs Field on the campus of 6th
ranked Clemson University served as the venue for the coming out
party of Jon Scraggs and the rest of the Quest alumni who played last
night for Georgia State University,as GSU shocked Clemson 2-1.
Twenty minutes into the first half, Scraggs got a hold of a loose
ball on top of Clemson's penalty box, and his low drive was deflected
by Clemson's keeper, but Georgia State's Brian Mitchell knocked in
the rebound to stun the home crowd as GSU went up 1-0.
In the 30th minute, Arash Darakashan had a loose ball drop on his
favorite left foot, and his 22 yard bomb found the back post, upper
corner for a 2-0 GSU lead. Right after half-time, Clemson's Steve
Rhyne eluded GSU's Jamie Hargather, and his shot was knocked down,
but the GSU keeper was called for tripping as he chased down the
loose ball, and Clemson scored the PK to make it 2-1. After a night
of steady defending, GSU's Brendon Minors had to come off due to
injury, and freshman Gregg Divito filled his role for the last twenty
minutes. GSU's Matt Dominick and the rest of the GSU defense held on
for the historic upset. All players mentioned (except Pope High
School's Brian Mitchell) played their youth soccer at United.
In all, seven Quest players saw action. It seems that the Quest
program is not only good enough to develop players good enough to
play at Clemson (Rhyne), but also players good enough to beat
Clemson. Congratulations to all of them. |
