Huntsville Spring Classic

The girls U-13 white team had a very nice weekend in Huntsville, AL. April 17 & 18. After losing game 1 to the eventual champions (HSC Kicks Red), the girls beat the defending champions (MSC Strikers from Murfreesboro, TN.) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, the girls beat Tupelo, MS. 3-0 and wrapped up the tournament by beating HSC White (Huntsville Soccer Club) 2-1 to finish with a 3-1 record. The team voted Zina Ait-Yahia as the tournament MVP for her outstanding play in the goal. In addition to Zina's fabulous play, the entire defense is to be commended for their tenacity. On the offensive side, there was a total team effort with our seven goals being scored by six different players: Keri Brothers 2, and Jamie Kranick, Lauren Kranick, Maizy Stell, Erin Gainey, and Caitlin Walsh with one each. Overall, the weather was perfect and Huntsville Soccer Club was a great host. Our girls earned a lot of respect and represented United Quest with pride and class.

In the final, they played the Cobb FC Chiefs and after being were down 2-0, came back to win the tournament 3-2. Congrats girls!

The G90 Reds had two good weekends in a row. Two week ago they went to Florida and won the Pensacola event at U13 girls. This past weekend they played in the Cobb Classic where they finished as a finalist.

The girls Academy U10 team played in the Cobb FC event as well. The QAA Red team played in the top division with both the QAA Whites and Blues competing in the second division. All the girls played outstanding in their first games of the spring, with the Reds winning their division.

Quest U-18 Girls Win State Championship

In very ugly weather conditions, the G85 Reds defeated GSA Red 3-0 to win the Georgia U18 Girls State Cup. The team played tighter than expected games in group play, including having to come from behind from two goals down playing with only 10 players to tie a crucial game that helped them get out of the group and into the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, the team faced Tophat Gold ’04, where Quest dominated every aspect and won 7-0 against a hard working Tophat team. That set up the final against GSA Red, the last team to beat Quest 1-2 in the last league game of the R3PL. Bad weather lead to some rough soccer but Quest made the most of their chances finishing three nice goals (Keleigh Hudson (2), Kasse Hollman) and seeing three others hit the bar or miss just wide. Quest keeper Lynn Murray was outstanding in one of her best performances and shut down all GSA hopes with three key saves over the course of the game. These same two teams could meet again at Regionals this summer as GSA will now be going as the R3PL representative.

EJ Receives Invitation to U19 National Camp

Elizabeth Jobe, who plays on the United Quest Girls 85 Reds, has been called into the U19 National Team training camp. She is graduating early from Roswell High School this month to start college at Clemson in January. EJ has been in the National Team picture since she was U14, but this is her first call up to the National Team since her ACL surgery over a year ago. EJ has worked very hard over the past 15 months preparing for this opportunity. Elizabeth has been playing at Quest since she was nine years old and will use the Disney College Showcase December 27-30 with her club team to prepare for training camp at the end of January. Her club team will miss her services during the U18 State Cup in January. The G85 Reds have already qualified for Regions through the Region III Premiere League. Congratulation to EJ, and good luck at National Team Camp!

Atlanta Cup

The Quest girls program had a great weekend at the Atlanta Cup. The girls got three teams into the semi-finals: G89R in U14 “A”, G88R in U15 “A”, and the G86R in the U17 “A”. After some exciting semi-final matches, unfortunately only two of the Quest teams moved on to the finals. The G88 Red’s played a strong final against the Region III Champions, but could not manage a goal, while creating more chances than their opponent only to end up 0-1 when the whistle blew. The G89 Reds got to the final and took care of business handling the Wags Wildcats 5-3 in a very exciting final. Congrats to all the Quest teams that competed in the tourney this Labor Day Weekend.

Quest Girls Program Gets Strong Start to the Fall 2003 Season

August 23-24 The Quest girls program competed in the Metro North Classic this weekend. The U11 Academy teams performed well with the Academy Blue team winning the U11 Girls Academy C division final. Also exiting the weekend with Championship hardware were the G89 Red’s (U14) playing up two years going undefeated and winning the Girls U16 “B” division. The G88 Red’s playing up one year won the U16 “A” division final. Congratulations to all participants!

Quest Girls Perform Well at Score at the Shore

The G85 Reds and G86 Reds both attended the prestigious Score at the Shore event in Long Island, NY the weekend of August 7th-10th. Both teams played well making it out of their respective groups and into the Knock-out phase of the tournament. In the first Knock-out game the G86 Reds played a very good Michigan Hawks team. In a closely contested game Quest fell short 0-2, on two first half goals. Even though they got knocked out earlier than expected it was a good weekend for the team. The G85 Reds faced the Rhode Island Rage in the first knock out game, after going 2-0-1 in their round robin games. The final in the Rhode Island game was 2-0, on goals by Ashley Stinson and Whitney Briggs. The next game was the quarter finals and in this game the G85 Reds faced the BRYSA Electra’s from Virginia. In a tight and physical game Quest came out on top 1-0 on a great goal by Caitlin McDonald in the second half. That got the team into the Semi Finals to face the PDA Galaxy who finished second in the Nation last year. In a hard fought match center-mid Kristin Mishrell finished a lose ball in the box for the 1-0 victory. In the final G 85 Red would face their in state rival GSA for the Championship. After a scoreless regulation time, Ashley Stinson got herself free and onto the end of a great thru ball from Kassie Hollman 16 minutes into “Golden Goal” overtime for the Championship. Great weekend for all Quest teams and especially the G 85 Reds for bringing home the hardware!
